Abstract

Considering the need to increase the level of professional competence of future workers in maritime and inland waterway transport is determined by the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (hereinafter - the Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers knowledge that future maritime workers must have to perform complex operations in extreme conditions, and provides students with preparedness for physical, moral and psychological stress, which necessitates the formation of professionally important qualities in the learning process. The etymology of the word "tolerance" comes from the Latin tolerantia - tolerance, ie the ability to form and maintain community with people who differ in some respects from the predominant type. Tolerance is the opposite of hostility, antipathy, hatred.

John Locke and Voltaire are considered the fathers of tolerance in Europe, and Locke's Letters on Tolerance (1689) and Voltaire's Treatise on Tolerance (1753) are considered to be the basis of reflections on tolerance. The very concept of "tolerance" was coined in the Middle Ages, but only Locke and Voltaire were able to explain its significance, taking into account the Enlightenment religious persecution in Europe at the time, which distinguished the condition of "whose power, that and religion."

Most specialists in maritime and inland waterway transport will work on ships in the world's maritime space and in multinational crews after graduation, so the tolerance of the specialist will be considered along with his professional skills. Today, Ukrainian sailors work in mixed "mix" crews with different types of people by race, religion, and so on. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the training of young professionals, namely to add to the list of general or special in educational standards specialties such competencies: the ability to social tolerance in a multinational crew and the ability to respond properly and adequately to religious or interpersonal conflicts. mixed crews on ships under a foreign flag, to adapt in confined spaces.
