Abstract

A modern marine transport or passenger ship is an engineering structure that is operated in various, often extraordinary, conditions of the World Ocean. At the same time, it represents an industrial and communal facility, which is characterized by the unity of work and rest zones, as well as the 24-hour continuous stay of a sailor under the influence of a dynamic complex of natural, industrial and household factors, the parameters of which reach extreme values. An important feature of the production activity of ship operators is work with visual display terminals, which reflect the main parameters of the navigation situation, the state of automated ship systems and mechanisms, as well as their changes in various sailing conditions. It is on the basis of the analysis of operational information that the watch navigator and mechanic assess the situation and apply adequate management actions. Mastering the profession of a ship operator involves, along with acquiring theoretical knowledge, practicing and consolidating professionally important skills and abilities on simulators of varying degrees of complexity.
