THE MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO THE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF MARINE ENGINEERS: THE METHOD OF EFFICIENT USE OF BIODIESEL IN THE SHIP POWER PLANT

An important direction for the development of water transport in Ukraine is to improve the level of marine engineers training through a multidisciplinary approach. The approach combines knowledge, skills, and methods of physics, information technology, fundamentals of scientificresearch, and professional disciplines of marine engineering. Biodiesel is used to reduce the emissions of a Ship Power Plant (SPP). Biodiesel significantly reduces harmful effects on the environment, but creates a specific impact on the SPP. The purpose of the work is to develop the professional competence of marine engineers in the effective use of biodiesel in the SPP through a multidisciplinary approach. Several physical experiments were carried out to measure the viscosity of biodiesel using the Stokes method. The developed Python program were used to automate calculations of the biodiesel dynamic and kinematic viscosity. The critical analysis of the publications was performed. The positive and negative biodiesel impacts on the SPP are systematized. The matrix of conformity of biodiesel components, the negative impacts, and basic malfunctions is proposed. The method of biodiesel efficient use in the SPP is proposed. The method can be used in the training of the marine engineers, and will allow the use of biodiesel in the SPP with high efficiency. The multidisciplinary approach gives the marine engineers the ability to conduct experiments, to develop observation skills, choose the methods and means of calculating experimental data, to apply innovative approaches to solving complex professional problems; to search and analyze the information, to make a critical analysis of the basic concepts, principles, theories and methods of the modern marine engineering; to substantiate your own point of the view; to study throughout life.
