Abstract

The increase in the number of ships, their size and speed leads to an increase in traffic intensity and requires an increase in navigation safety. Reliability of all ship's technical means is important for ensuring safety of navigation. The authors believe that this is an important prerequisite for solving the problem of ship systems reliability. The article is devoted to the problem of reducing the reliability of ship systems, devices and vessels due to the continuous complexity of their technical equipment. Despite the reliability of component parts, assemblies and devices, the continuous complexity of shipboard technical equipment leads to a decrease in the overall reliability of the system. One of the factors that leads to a decrease in reliability is the failure of the main equipment due to the specific operating conditions of ships. This can create an emergency situation and lead to serious consequences, including human casualties. Since maritime transport vessels are far from shore bases, they cannot rely on quick assistance from ship repair facilities. The general context of the article is to find solutions and measures that can improve the reliability of ship systems and ensure safe navigation. By analyzing the problem of reliability decline and using redundancy of units, the authors aim to contribute to the development of safe and reliable maritime transportation.
