Abstract

While working at sea, a seafarer faces many psychological, physiological and communicative challenges. Maintenance of seafarers from the point of view of their well-being, education of both psychological and physiological tolerance is a very urgent task in our time. The International Maritime Organization promotes tolerance towards seafarers through various conventions and initiatives. These documents protect seafarers' rights, ensure their welfare and improve working conditions on board ships. In addition, the implementation of policies aimed at combating discrimination or prejudice based on race, sex, nationality or any other factor is essential for fostering tolerance towards seafarers. Therefore, the goal of the study was to create a psychogram of a sea cadet. The research methods are archival (studying the conventions of the International Maritime Organization, studying the requirements for sea cadets on the websites of local and European crewing companies), empirical (observation, questionnaires, interviews, testing and evaluation). The survey was conducted based on the principles of voluntariness and confidentiality. As a result, the style of communication, foreign language communication, stress resistance, adaptability to innovations and a number of other factors that affect the effectiveness of a sea cadet's life in a professional environment were investigated. Analyzing these elements, we formed a complex psychological profile of the cadet's personality. To create a psychological profile (psychogram), we collected information about the behavior, emotions, thoughts and personality traits of a sea cadet. The peculiarity of the developed psychogram is that its theoretical basis is various types of tolerance, relevant for the everyday and professional activities of a student of maritime education before and after swimming practice. These types of tolerance are: physiological, psychological, communicative, communicative foreign language and innovative. Factors that can be used to assess the level of formation of skills, traits and qualities of a sea cadet were identified, namely: physical endurance, sensorimotor reactions, visual perception, stress resistance, cognition, psychological literacy, sociability and adaptability. To assess the level of formation of the specified factors, valid existing diagnostic methods were tested and author's methods were developed. The created holistic image of a naval cadet gives an understanding that a lot depends on self-education and self-improvement of those acquiring a marine specialty.
